We used my Dropbox account to release the experimental versions. During the weekend I have received a warning that my Public folder has been disabled due to massive downloads. On one hand I am very sorry that you were not able to download this experimental version of Docear and unfortunately I could not do anything about it since I have been on vacation the last two days. On the other hand however I am somehow really proud that so many of you guys tried to download Docear. 😀

Thanks for your help! The download links are working again!

Hello Docear community,

In build135 there was a bug resulting in a complete freeze of Docear after the PDF viewer selection dialog was opened.
Image

Since we could not reproduce it on our systems, it took us a while to find the issue, but I hope that we finally made it. Could you please try to verify and tell us about the results on our Bug Reports board (http://www.docear.org/support/forums/docear-support-forums-group3/bug-reports-forum6 board).

And I want to clear up a misunderstanding several MacOSX users complained about.
In the release notes of build 135 I stated that:

We are very unhappy about it, but we had no other option than to deactivate our support for both tools [i.e. Skim and Preview], since this means that we can't synchronize any annotations from or to the PDF files without running into a lot of conflicts, duplicates and other unwanted effects.
For now, the only pdf reader on MacOSX we know of, which supports pdf annotation and sticks to the PDF standard is the Acrobat reader.

It's not that Docear won't import any annotations created by these applications anymore. We just won't show Skim or Preview in the PDF selection dialog. If you use one of them as your default PDF viewer, nothing changes. You can import Annotations, open the PDF files on specific pages, ... just like before!
The only thing is that we can't recommend and support them officially.
We apologize for any inconvenience.

This version only fixes the bug mentioned before. For a changelog since the last beta release, please have a look here:
